Itching to break out of their year-long hiatus and get back on the stage, the band had been secretly working on new material to prepare for a comeback album in 2021 and a new tour.

By 2016, the band had recorded and released their debut EP which gained the attention of many notable rock artists such as Alice Cooper, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein of the Misfits, and Wednesday 13.Īfter the Summer of 2019, HPD went through an evolution after experiencing many ups and downs in their personal lives. Being inspired by various rock outfits such as Avenged Sevenfold, Black Veil Brides, and Bullet For My Valentine, HPD became a popular act amongst heavy metal fanatics. Among other themes, their songs range from topics of love, misery, violence, and even horror movies! HPD fosters a big-picture perspective on life and strives to show the world to care about what matters most in it.įronted and created by lead singer and guitarist Alexander Black at just the age of 14, Half Past Dead quickly rose to the top of the local Richmond heavy metal music scene. Stretching from the fiery highs of teenage aggression to the drastic lows of lifelong depression, the quartet of misfit rockers create music that is both hard-hitting and heartbreaking. Hailing from the streets of Richmond, Virginia, Half Past Dead is the hard rock dreamchild of four outcast musicians with a vision. There's something special going on with these guys, and we are just about getting started, if it gets any better, I may not be able to stand it! I hope to see you all out there in the crowd, dancing & shaking your bones. If I had to list my top 5 favorite drummers, I would be 5th! So these days the new band "HALF PAST DEAD" is really proving to be the most fun and promising line up of players that I have had the privilege to share the stage with since I can remember. Those bands stretched from the genres of San Francisco's Bay Area bands, Psychedelic rock, blues, folk, jammy & a real eclectic mix of American folk, and southern fried cowboy acid rock! So my past endeavors included keeping the time with, to name just a few: The Electric Flannels, Working without a net, Funky Buddha, Pangea, The Gooner Brothers, The Youngers & The Cabin project ,and of course the long time running Orlando Brothers. This started a new experience in meeting other musicians who felt the same, and at the time there were many. They touched my soul in a way that can only be described as a type of "transcending magic". They quickly, after my 1st show in 1982, became the only band I wanted to see, again and again. Then came the music that would change everything from my interest & influence as a musician, well, I mean a drummer, we're kinda musicians, but just different! Heavy stuff, I cut my teeth on that stuff for my first 5 years or so drumming along to the records & jamming with my brother. As for the music I grew up playing and listening to, from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin.

I used to sneak in the basement & play a drum kit that was there because his band practiced in our basement. My brother Vince gets credit for my early inspiration, being he plays guitar even longer than I play. I'm 48 as I'm writing this, so the math says I have been drumming on & off for the better part of 35 years. I'm Frank Orlando, and I started drumming at age 13. Most recently (before Half Past Dead) as a solo acoustic act: Steve Hartman-Acoustic Troubadour He has been playing in bands and performing for 25 years. Steve Hartman had a love of music for as long as he can remember (he recalls listening to CSN&Y in his mother's womb).
